Podcast Episode 2 – Kris Sullivan – A Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) Practitioner, Licensed Massage Therapist, and Certified Personal Trainer with a Commitment to Learning
My second guest on the Engaging Muscles Podcast has been a licensed massage therapist for 12 years, and a certified personal trainer for 10 years.
Kris is also a certified Active Release Technique™ (ART™) provider.
More recently, Kris has gone on to complete the Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) Specialist Certificate Program. Kris is also a certified KINSTRETCH™ Functional Range Conditioning (FRC™) mobility specialist.
Two years ago, Kris asked me if I thought the Muscle Activation Techniques Jumpstart Program would be a worthwhile investment. Not long after that, we touched base again. Having first met Kris as a student in my advanced kinesiology class at the Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy in Westport, CT, I wasn’t surprised to hear he had not only completed the MAT Jump Start Program, he was also well on his way to completing the Muscles Activation Techniques Internship.
A passion for learning, Kris has gone on to complete the Muscle Activation Techniques weekend courses that focus on foot function and hand and wrist. He’s currently working on completing the MAT Mastery Program.
We touched on a lot of things in this episode.
Including how powerful Muscle Activation Techniques® is for performance. Not only in sports. But also the activities of everyday living. We also touched on shoes that are actually minimal, the mechanics that contribute to plantar fasciitis, and much more.
It was great to catch up with Kris.
Enjoy the show!

I have held a license to practice massage therapy for thirty years. For eighteen of those years, I was a nationally certified personal trainer. During that time, I completed thousands of one-on-one personalized fitness training sessions. I went on to teach the biomechanics of exercise to personal trainers, group exercise instructors, and physical therapists throughout New England. Teaching exercise biomechanics led to consulting for The Greenbrier, Canyon Ranch, and ESPN, which evolved into providing deep tissue and sports massage for four years at ESPN.
